Job Descriptions
Decorating
Team: Do you have an artistic flair or a knack for building? This is the
perfect spot if you would like to help with VBS but can’t be there
during VBS week! The decorating team is responsible for designing and
creating the scenes that transform the church to an environment that
reflects our VBS theme.
Set-up Crew: his is the perfect spot if you would like to help with VBS
but can’t be there during the week! Artistic talent is not a
prerequisite! We need help decorating the building(s) (dates are subject
to change, time TBD). This is the fun part!
Take-down Crew: Adults and older teens are needed for this vital job
following the close of VBS. The church needs to be put back in order
after a whole week of VBS activities. The take-down crew will not only
take down all decorations, but will return items borrowed and deliver
those decorations that will be donated.
Registration /Volunteer Check-in: Every day there is a need to have
assistance with registration and check-in, especially Monday and
Tuesday. Your role will be helping with new registrations, volunteer
check-in, and directing people where they need to be. All materials will
be provided and specific instructions for how to register new children.
Snacks: You will be the hopping spot to catch a bite to eat. If you like
to talk about food and explain how the food connects to the Bible
stories for the day then this is the place for you. Your team may do
minimal prep work, but the bulk of prep will be done in the kitchen
ahead of time.
Crafts: Our craft station will be a fun filled area of re-enforcing the
day’s Bible story through a craft project. All supplies will be grouped
for the day, some prep may be required, ie. Sorting for each age group.
Your task will be to explain/demonstrate the craft and tie it into the
lesson from the day.
Crew Leaders: This role is needed for all ages of kids, age 2-5 and
grades Kindergarten through Fifth. Crews consist of 6-10 kids in age
specific groups. With the younger ages we attempt to keep the groups
smaller. Your role is to lead your group from Station to Station each
day of VBS, encourage participation at each station and participate in
activities as a leader as well.
Bible Story Time: Through our adventure kids will take a stop at our
Bible Story Station. There could be elements of acting in skits or
puppets that will aid in telling the Bible Story of the day. All
additional décor and items for telling the story will be provided.
Acting skills recommended!
Outdoor Games: Games is going to be a face paced action filled area for
kids to experience the Bible story in an active way. Your role will be
to work with a team of leaders to set up the games each morning, explain
the games to each rotation of students, and work in the Bible point and
story into your games.
Audio / Visual: This role involves running sound systems, video
projectors, Power Point during VBS. Using photos from photographer, this
role will create a daily video presentation of the days previous
activities.
Photographer: Take photos of the activities on a digital camera, using
still and video photography. Working with Audio / Visual to create a
daily presentation of the previous days activities for use in the daily
opening.
Phone tree caller: Assist in calling under the direction of the VBS
director
Miscellaneous: Some examples include, but are not limited to, picking
up t-shirts, sorting VBS gear, distributing VBS gear, etc... If you are
unable to volunteer during VBS week, but would like to help us prepare
for it, this would be a great role for you!
